Chief Engineer
KRNV-TV – Reno, NV

KRNV/KENV- TV, in Reno, NV, is seeking a Chief Engineer! This individual will be responsible for managing and maintaining all broadcast equipment/systems responsible for daily on-air operation of the station while using engineering knowledge to maintain and repair all technical equipment in studio and transmitter facilities, satellite downlink/uplink, and microwave transmission systems. This induvial would also be responsible for ensuring the station operates in compliance with FCC rules and regulations while overseeing FCC requirements and completing FCC duties in a timely and accurate manner to maintain the station’s FCC license.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain the iTX playout server to its optimum condition, required by the master control operators and work with other station engineers to ensure problems are reported and addressed quickly
  • Ensure the transmitters are in peak operating condition and the transmitter power is calibrated every year, the transmitter remote control system is connected daily and the STL/TSL links are functioning optimally
  • Maintain the professional and cleanliness of the master control and engineering areas and all network equipment is fully functional and coordinating with the USSI when needed for network equipment service
  • Maintain news ENG and SNG vehicles are maintained and ready for deployment when needed and photography equipment is attended to quickly
  • Managing FCC requirements and ability to manage and complete reports, filings, and duties to ensure compliance and requirements are being met
  • Provide budget information to support the implementation of new systems
  • Provide technical support to operational users
  • Consult and communicate with engineering management and other engineers on technical issues as required
  • Perform all technical work to engineering standards and practices
  • Other duties may be assigned

Other Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A minimum of 7 years in broadcast television
  • Modern skill set, team-oriented attitude and dedication to quality
  • Be able to work effectively with other departments receiving communicating instructions via telephone or in person
  • Strong leadership skills
  • The ability to troubleshoot and set priorities under pressure of deadlines
  • Self-starter, able to work efficiently without direct supervision
  • Proficient with PC based technology
  • Be able to ready and understand technical materials
  • Must be flexible to accommodate shift changes including extended hours, weekends and evenings
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • A college degree, SBE certification, Project Management skills a definite plus
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds and observe issues with broadcast signals

Multi-Media Journalist
WTAT – Charleston, SC

WTAT FOX 24 in Charleston, SC, is seeking to fill the position of Multi-Media Journalist (MMJ)/Weather Presenter/Producer. The candidate researches, writes, reports, shoots video and edits material for our daily news and lifestyle show, FOX 24 News Now. The candidate will furnish a wide variety of news content either working alone or in tandem with the rest of the team. This position coordinates with the Executive Producer, Segment Producer and Editor/Director. The individual will be called upon to represent WTAT in public in a professional and courteous manner.

Essential Job Functions

Writes, reports, presents, shoots, edits video content/assets and stories from concept to finish. Generates story ideas, cultivates news sources and remains knowledgeable regarding places, events, and people in the news, local or national.

Builds community contacts, provides daily story notes outlining ideas for future stories. Passes along facts uncovered concerning ongoing projects and shares information relating to upcoming events, meetings, or story developments.

Serves as community ambassador for the news department. Responds to concerns of viewers.

Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements: All must be met to be considered.


Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience.


At least two years experience in broadcast journalism. Experience reporting (MMJ) news at a commercial television station preferred.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must possess advanced understanding of legal and ethical issues impacting journalism.

Ability to combine words and pictures into informative and interesting news stories.

Ability to shoot, write and edit packaged reports.

Advanced knowledge of the locale, governing bodies, demographics and public figures.

Ability to perform quality work in high pressure deadline situations.

Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Must possess valid Driver’s License with a good driving record.
